We just won a lengthy case today. In normal circumstances, we get really excited about each win. In this case though, we wish we could have been involved in it much earlier and see our client’s mother receive the help she deserved, but never received.
She had a stroke in November 2016. Soon after began having severe headaches along with left shoulder pain. She was uninsured. She reached out and complained to her clinic doctors, but since there was no insurance, sadly no tests were ordered.
In Nov 2018, she was found unresponsive on the floor of her apartment. Unfortunately, she died of a malignant brain tumor. She was only 53 years old.
Recently, we were able to represent her son who will receive the benefits she should have been paid.
While that gives me comfort, her story breaks my heart. Anyone with a history of stroke, experiencing severe headaches and left shoulder pain, would surely have been scanned sooner. Had she been insured, she may have gotten the treatment needed and still be alive today.
Every American deserves care our client’s mother should have received.
